Are you coming on holiday and want to prepare your travel diary to discover the best beaches in Mallorca? No problem! In today’s post, at Sun Beach Apartments Santa Ponsa, we are going to tell you which are some of the best beaches in Majorca that you cannot miss. Let’s go!
The beach of Es Trenc is one of the essential visits to the island. It is more than 3.5 km long, with fine white sand and some old bunkers that have been restored and decorated with phrases from a poem by Mallorcan Miquel Costa i Llobera. Undoubtedly, in addition to enjoying the beautiful turquoise waters of the beach, here you can take more than one summer photo for the memory.
This beach is easily accessible by car or public transport (we recommend the latter option if you are not leaving your accommodation too soon). During the summer months, it is advisable to go with time and early to catch the best places on the beach.
Situated very close to Calas de Mallorca, the beautiful beach of Cala Varques is pure relaxation and beauty. Without a doubt, it is one of the essential beaches of Mallorca that should be at the top of your list of visits, as it is also a very frequented beach by local people. It is about 44 metres long, and its turquoise waters will make you fall in love with the fantastic atmosphere; although it is important to note that to get there you have to walk about 20 minutes, something to take into account to dress comfortably and especially if you are travelling with children. Ah! As a note, it is also a highly recommended cove to enjoy scuba diving and climbing in some areas.
The beautiful Formentor Beach is divided into 3 zones: Platjamar, L’Espigó and La Veranda, although each one has its own special charm. It is classified as a Blue Flag, a quality seal that is really to be admired. It is about 1 km long, and is close to the famous Puerto de Pollensa, another must-see on the island.
It is true that in summer this beach is usually quite crowded, but it is worth visiting, especially for those who love nature, as it is surrounded by pine forests, mountains and beautiful Mediterranean waters (by the way, not very deep).
Illetas, also known as Ses Illetes, is one of the most popular beaches on Mallorca. It is located in Palma, about 15 minutes from the center of the capital, so it is a fantastic option if you want to combine a sightseeing tour of the city and its monuments. The beach has a lot of charm, with calm and clean waters and a fine golden sand, although it is necessary to bear in mind that in high season it can be a little more crowded in the afternoons. It is advisable to go with time and soon! Another highlight of Illetes beach is that it can be reached by public transport and there is even a beach club right there for those who want to enjoy a more “VIP” beach day or want to eat something rich and light.
Caló d’en Pelliçer
This is a small beach surrounded by nature that lies between Santa Ponsa and the nautical club of the same locality. The truth is that Caló d’en Pelliçer is one of the favourite coves near Santa Ponsa, especially among families (as there is also a children’s playground next door) or people looking for tranquillity and not a very crowded beach.
There are shady areas under pine groves ideal for a rich summer picnic, restaurants and bars close to the other side of the street, and parking in the area is really easy. As for its waters, perfect for a swim! The temperature is usually very good and the waters are calm and crystal clear, although it must be borne in mind that in this cove there is no lifeguard. After a good dip here, there’s nothing better than biting a slice of watermelon sitting on the fine white sand of the place. Anybody say summer? Without a doubt, this is one of the essential must-visit beaches in Majorca.
Santa Ponsa Beach
If we talk about Mallorca’s beaches, many will already know the famous Playa de Santa Ponsa (or Platja de Santa Ponça), one of the most emblematic and beautiful beaches on the island. Again, this is also very popular with families, as it is quite large (1300 m in length), there is lifeguard, plenty of water activities available and beach bar. But of course, it’s not just for families! Santa Ponsa beach is popular with all ages, and is a perfect day at the beach for both those who want to relax in the sun and those looking for adventure scuba diving or paddle surfing. We emphasize that the beach is in a very visible area and that a few meters away you will find several small shops, bars and restaurants.
Cala Blanca is a beautiful cove of sand and rocks ideal to spend a quiet day in couple or with friends. It is only a few kilometres from Puerto de Andratx and it is easy to park nearby. It is a small beach about 137 meters long and 15 meters wide, so it is very cozy. In addition, the best of this beach are undoubtedly its beautiful clean Mediterranean waters, which invite you to take a dip and dive around the place to discover the seabed.
